Help create a Sol LeWitt wall drawing

Drop in and take part

This is a rare chance to participate in the creation of an artwork by one of the most important artists of the 20th century, Sol LeWitt.

Using the careful instructions sent from the Sol LeWitt estate, you can now take your turn to help re-create one his famous wall drawings at the Gallery.

Wall Drawing #124 is among a series of wall drawings that LeWitt conceived with student participation in mind. It was first realised in March 1972 at the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, California.

LeWitt’s wall drawings completely shifted traditional ways of thinking about art in the late 1960s. This radical new form of art created temporary works that could be executed not just by LeWitt but also by trained assistants from a set of basic instructions provided by the artist.
