Teenage drawing workshop: Drawing from paintings
For 13-17 year olds
Look beyond colour and paint to see the tones of light and shade that build up a picture plane. Make pencil sketches directly from paintings in the Gallery, concentrating on form and structure to gain an understanding of composition. Using your direct studies, recreate your own personal version of the painting in black and white – a terrific exercise to encourage your understanding of the structure beneath an image.
The workshop is led by Gria Shead, a Sydney artist and printmaker who believes drawing is fundamental to a strong art practice.
All materials included. Bring an apron.
