Year of the Dog
Art Club kicks off the Lunar New Year by celebrating the Year of the Dog. To generate some good luck vibes, we will be making a dog sculpture from clay.
Using scratch-foam we will create a detailed design based on the intricate shapes of a pomegranate and print it on a tote bag.
We will look at geometric abstraction and paint a colourful abstract painting on linen board.
Floral still life
Surprise Mum with a unique gift of flowers. We will create a gorgeous bouquet of flowers by drawing your flower design into embossing foil.
Animals in pastels
Looking at animals in Aboriginal Art, we will do some x-ray drawings, experiment with drawing and rubbing out using chalk pastels.
Twist and turn, manipulate and mould, have fun this month making a sculpture using wire. Inspiration from the Gallery’s collection will guide you to making a truly individual artwork.
Patterns in nature
Looking at works in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander collection, we will weave a bowl using feather twine and wool. Enjoy the tactile quality of these materials and explore the different types of patterns you can create.
With insects as our subject matter, we will create a detailed and delicate drypoint etching.
Let’s make a fun and meaningful self portraits with our pet or favourite animal, using ink and watercolour.
Fun still life
With fun toys as our subject matter, we’ll make a fun and colourful painting on linen canvas board.
Decorate a ceramic platter with an intricate and colour design. Ideal for the festive season.
