Summer days

Enjoy a creative start to the new year with our new series of monthly Art Challenges. Taking inspiration from works in the AGNSW Collection, our challenges offer a great opportunity for artistic expression plus a chance to win a Faber-Castell art pack, courtesy of program sponsor Faber-Castell.

Savour the warm, sultry days of Summer, and illustrate a favourite summer holiday.

It may be a recent holiday or a memory of summers past. Family days at the beach or splashing in the pool? Exploring nature, relaxing with friends, or reading a good book?

Create an artwork which expresses the sights, sounds and smells of your Summer days.

Australian impressionist artist Arthur Streeton spent many Summer days painting on Sydney Harbour.

His sun-drenched impressionist landscapes and joyful depictions of Sydney Harbour are amongst the most enduring and popular paintings for many Australians.

Email your entry to artchallenge@artgallerysociety.org.au

Please submit a good quality image of your work, minimum 2MB. A large format from a smart phone is fine.

Your entry must include your name, age, address, phone number, membership number and the medium you used.

Works must be specifically created for and respond to the theme – Summer days.

You cannot submit a pre-existing work.

All entrants must be a current member of the Art Gallery Society of NSW.
