My body of work is a series of self-portraits representing the experience of isolation in a domestic setting. The work is set within the home, a place where one should feel a sense of warmth and comfort, but instead each photograph expresses disconnection and discomfort. My use of chiaroscuro and a moody monochromatic colour palette is intended to invoke a sensation of eeriness for the viewer, and to prompt an emotional response defined by the association of one’s personal experiences and memories. In a way Confined is both a personal and collective experience for all.
