Sarah Ong The consequence of light
Colour is always changing in a natural environment. When the sun moves across the sky, the strength of the emitted light changes according to the angle striking the molecules of the atmosphere. For my body of work I painted five different landscapes, each represented at six different times of the day, from sunrise to sunset. I was fascinated by the shifting shadows and the discovery of new colours that only existed for that short period of time. I was inspired by Monet’s conscious disassociation from objects and their commonly accepted colour to fully grasp the true colours of a natural environment.
