Stephen Green Equilibrium

My work is based on balance and form. It encompasses the balancing act of action and motion: these forces are suspended in equilibrium. This balancing act is reflected in my use of plastic, an industrial product, contorted into curvilinear forms. Red thread is delicately interwoven into the sculptures to heighten the suspense. Inspired by Naum Gabo and Robert Klippel, whose works create the illusion of lightness with materials in counterbalanced sculptures, my pieces are independent in form yet inextricably linked in their unity of purpose.
