Millie Wistow-Martin Polite conversation

Polite conversation is a visual dossier of my artistic practice. In the midst of the creative process, I tore up my ten-metre roll of paper. The gestural female figure drawings I had been working on evolved into non-representational fragments, more akin to abstraction of landscape. Collage and my expressive processes of over-painting, tearing, sgraffito mark-making, and compositional balance became my new technique. The works are a sophisticated visual language of my personal world.
