Humanity dominates the natural world and causes its destruction through processes such as urbanisation. The black market in animals causes the loss of species around the world. My artwork intends to bring awareness to the loss of the big cats using well-known icons such as tigers. Their fur is highly sought after in the black market for their intricate pelt designs, which I have recreated through painting. These ‘nine lives’ have been captured in isolation, like the obedient performance act of a tamed circus lion.
