Ashleigh Millward Still life inception

My work, Still life inception, represents the forgotten social attitudes and values of 1950s culture. I display the high expectations and restraining rules placed on women in this era through my ceramic 3D still-life kitchen, supposedly where women ‘belonged’. Each historical resource I encountered revolved around women and their domestic lifestyle, making the inequality of women in the 1950s evident. I have an appreciation that modern society does not work like that anymore, yet the fact that our generation is unaware of these inequalities needed to be made clear.
