Shadow stories is an insight into the disconnection I feel from my Indonesian-Chinese heritage. Each panel tells a different story about my life. Each example of Chinese-Indonesian flora symbolises something different, and the stencils also represent various aspects of my life. I paired real flowers with a stencil then used studio lights to project shadows that symbolise my disconnection. Then, using Photoshop, I methodically built up layers to achieve an image that I felt represented the story I aimed to tell. The vanishing movement of the shadows emphasises my fractured sense of self and the disconnection I feel.
