I employed a mixed-media approach, using multiple pieces of patterned paper and images of innocence to create my work and explore the sweet simplicities of childhood. I focused on images from the 1930s, especially children’s books of that era, and transformed these images into stencils, referencing Shepard Fairey, Banksy and street art. I like the idea of juxtaposing the home crafts of yesterday with the modern street art of today. My aim was to create a sense of nostalgia within my audience while connecting it with contemporary life: what is and what used to be.
