Thomas Robertson Things seen are temporal, things unseen eternal
My images explore personal and collective family memory. Experiences that link the temporal to the eternal are captured in dark, endless spaces, illuminated with projected imagery. I was influenced by Peter Solness’s application of light brushed onto natural forms and the haunting characterisation of the subject by Trent Parke. I wanted to explore the duality of a place where the subjects exist but don’t exist, and how our perceptions are blurred between real and imaginary worlds. These symbolic images photographed onsite question our human frailties and highlight the transient nature of life, now and in the hereafter.
