Tessa Beyer The nature of us
The nature of us is a depiction of my experiences of humanity and its interaction with its environment. ‘Nature’ could refer to human nature or simply the environment, while ‘Us’ encompasses not only my family depicted in my works, but humanity in general. My concept was based loosely on an exploration of family heritage. Most of my works were inspired by family photos, which led me to framing them with old wooden frames, representing the jigsaw of memories in mismatched frames lining my grand mother’s hallway wall. My aim was to convey memorable moments through paint, prints and photos, intertwining my past, present and potential, as in order to understand one life, you must swallow the world…
