A circus is based on simple principles; it is the smoke machines and sleight of hand we see. Politics are based on simple principles; it is the manipulation and sleight of hand we see. Wire is essentially a single, simple straight line; it is the manipulation and sleight of hand we see. Influenced by Alexander Calder who made a kinetic circus, I froze my characters, even if it was only momentarily. John Howard is the ring leader, Peter Costello hopefully peeking through the curtain. Alexander Downer and Morris Iemma are playing Texas hold ‘em in the caravan. The gallery consists of Julia Gillard, Kim Beazley, Amanda Vanstone and one, very anxious Barnaby Joyce.
