Dora Wednesday A stitch over time sends you blind

Stepping into the Out of sight exhibition that catered for visually impaired people, my first thought was: ‘How would we explain sight to someone who has always been blind?’ Ironically, I explored this question through my art-making using textured paper, calligraphy pens and textiles. I researched the notion of sight, conducted an interview with Barbara Bonfield, a visually impaired woman, and further explored these experiences through digital media and sewing. The manipulation of an original work became the manipulation of perception: the boundary of visual acuity is challenged by the sense of touch when using thread and fabric.
