Christopher Jansen The land and its inhabitants

Work by Christopher Jansen
Work by Christopher Jansen

In this work I express human relationships with the land, and how the land in turn affects its inhabitants. Landscapes and landforms are recurring features in my art creations. Aboriginal spirituality is commonly related to this theme but was not my motivation for this particular work. Incentive came from observing artworks of past years.

My work is enriched with various textures and mediums, ranging from sand, PVA glue, modelling compound, shellac and thick textural compounds to create a three-dimensional image. Creating the artwork revolved very much around a photographic image in my mind, along with my usual style of ‘accidental’ or ‘unintended’ art.
