Opportunities for artists

  • Bulgari Art Award

    Awarded annually for a contemporary Australian painting, this acquisitive award is valued at $80,000, including residency in Italy. Works are selected by the Gallery (no entries are accepted).

  • Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship

    An annual scholarship awarded to a young artist/painter with an established body of work who is best able to demonstrate the use and benefit of the scholarship to further their art education in Europe.

  • Studios in Paris

    Two-month or three-month tenancy, for artists or scholars in the visual arts, in the Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris. Plus the Eva Breuer Travelling Art Scholarship of $25,000, awarded to one of the winners of these residency scholarships.

  • Eva Breuer Travelling Art Scholarship

    In memory of Eva Breuer, one of Australia’s most loved and prolific art dealers who made a signification contribution to Australian art in the 1980s and 90s, The Breuer Foundation has established an annual scholarship to be awarded to a young Australian female artist for the purpose of travel and study in Paris.

  • Barbara Tribe Travelling Art Scholarship

    The Barbara Tribe Travelling Art Scholarship valued at $25,000 is awarded every two years, beginning in 2020, to an Australian female sculptor in conjunction with the studio residency at La Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris.

  • Dyason Bequest

    A grant offered to Australian art students who have already won a travelling scholarship, to assist with the cost of overseas travel.

  • Basil and Muriel Hooper Scholarship

    An annual scholarship of $4000 aimed at fine art students attending recognised universities or schools in New South Wales to assist with costs of fees and general living expenses.

  • Elioth Gruner Prize

    An annual prize of $1000, open to NSW art students for the best study of a landscape in oils.

  • Robert Le Gay Brereton Memorial Prize

    An annual prize of $2000, awarded to art students exhibiting skill and promise in the area of draughtsmanship.
