Private benefaction through gifts, donations and bequests allows the Gallery to acquire art works for the collection. Major benefaction is usually received as a gift of money, works of art or other property, during a benefactor's lifetime or as a bequest as part of a will. Such benefaction may be offered through the Art Gallery of New South Wales Foundation or directly to the Gallery Trust. (See Gifts and Bequests for suggested wording.)
