Travel: The art of exploration

Experience Australia’s Kimberley coast with experts… and help build the Gallery’s Aboriginal art collection

Orion Expedition Cruises, in conjunction with the Art Gallery of NSW, is offering an educational voyage to the Kimberley coast of Western Australia.

This spectacular landscape is one of the world’s great art galleries where Aboriginal people have painted for many thousands of years. The voyage will also provide a unique opportunity to access the range of contemporary Aboriginal art from the region, including specially hosted visits to art centres and a program of events bringing together artists and artworks.

Travel with experts

Accompanying the group and presenting lectures will be Art Gallery of NSW curator Jonathan Jones; Howard Morphy, director of the Research School of Humanities, Australian National University; Frances Morphy, linguistic anthropologist and research fellow, Australian National University; and Chad Creighton, a Bardi and Nyull Nyuall man from Broome.

Helping us buy art

For each guest who mentions the Gallery when booking, the Gallery will receive a donation from Orion Expedition Cruises, which will go toward purchasing artworks for the Aboriginal collection.
