Confession

God of mercy, our maker, king and judge,
we have sinned against you, disappointed you
in what we have thought,
in what we have said,
in what we have done
and in what we have not done.

We have not loved you with our whole heart;
we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves.

Our sins feel like filthy rags on us.
Father, please forgive us;
wash us completely and clothe us in your righteousness;
make us worthy to stand in your presence, as new creatures.

Please give us strength to love and obey you.
Through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
Amen.

(To each other)
Your sins are forgiven.
Be at peace.
