Jonathan Biggins

 

Jonathan Biggins is an actor, writer, director and broadcaster. Theatre credits include The Venetian Twins (MTC), Summer Rain, Soulmates (STC), A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Esgee Productions), Pearls Before Swine (Belvoir Street), Essington Lewis: I Am Work (HVTC), Ruddigore (VSO), The Mikado (Opera SA and Opera QLD), and Orpheus in the Underworld (OA). Film and TV credits include Three Men and a Baby Grand (ABC), Thank God He Met Lizzie and Getting Square.

As Director of Revue for the Sydney Theatre Company he has worked on Sunday in Iraq With George, Much Revue About Nothing, Free Petrol, The Year of Living Comfortably and The End of the Wharf as We Know It. With his colleagues Phil Scott and Drew Forsythe, Jonathan created Three Men and a Baby Grand, which toured nationally and to the Edinburgh Festival, and The Republic of Myopia for STC, which he also directed. The trio has also performed with the Hunter Orchestra and the SSO. With Phil Scott, he wrote the new libretto for OA's Orpheus in the Underworld in 2003.

Jonathan currently hosts Critical Mass, the arts discussion programme on ABC TV, and writes a fortnightly column for Good Weekend magazine.

He has been an Art After Hours speaker for the Archibald and Bill Henson exhibitions.
