Medardo Rosso's work has been the subject of specialised studies, and yet a question remains: which pieces are actually Medardo Rosso's work? A large number of copies of Rosso's work started emerging from foundries in the early twentieth century, and there are other contemporary fakes and replicas. This book is the result of collaboration with the Medardo Rosso Museum and Archive in Barzio (Lecco), which holds the sculptor's entire life work and personal documents. The book includes a selection of 22 documented sculptures on show, including Madame X, Yvette Guilbert La Rieuse and Bambino malato, and highlights the complicated work of dating and reconstructing Rosso's production.
