The person in this portrait is a version of myself, a side that plays a big role in my decision-making and in who I am. At times, I have to push aside this careful, measured self as it can make me feel overwhelmed and worried about the unfolding of my life. When I took this as a reference photo, I was eager to choose a different, more accurate depiction of me, but this – like all other parts of me – is a true side, and one that I am learning to embrace.
