Derek Dong My chess journey

This is me and my chess arbiter. Firstly, chess and drawing are my favourite hobbies, so I am glad to connect them. Secondly, chess develops my creativity and imagination, and I think that’s important for kids my age – I hope more kids play chess, to learn a new skill and demonstrate structured and reflective thinking. Lastly, chess is a game of war, but it teaches me a peaceful means to get along with others. Every time I lose a game, I learn something. I don’t hold it against my opponent, I thank them. May world peace [reign] and all the people exchange an olive branch!
