Sophia Qian (Un)changed

This is my art teacher Wang Yi. Behind him is the newspaper clipping of his 2008 Archibald finalist piece Long hair. His serious expression and stern demeanour scared me a little when I first met him. However, as time went on, my perspective of him changed – Mr Wang Yi is a very wise man who likes to make small talk and sometimes joke during lessons. He also loves showing off his large collection of antiques, which he has collected throughout the years. Even though my perception of him has changed, he himself has remained the same.
