My father was a carpenter/builder and he built all the houses I grew up in, here and in New Zealand, which is where my interest in domestic architecture comes from.

The ubiquitous Sydney red-and-yellow brick houses and flats, statuesque and monolithic, are both familiar and yet inaccessible; their impervious facades like stony faces, abstracted geometric grids in repeating formations, marking time for the people who occupy them, silent witnesses to the human lives within and the changing world without.
