Cameron Potts The pleasure of finding things out

acrylic and pencil on board

120.5 x 240 cm

The pleasure of finding things out is inspired by the short essays of the late physicist Richard Feynman and the scientific method of ‘viewing scales’ – in particular the beauty of smaller scales when apprehending the natural world. I’ve chosen the view of a magnifying glass to illustrate the wonder of peering at the microcosmos of my housemate’s veggie patch.

I also wanted to share the intelligence that is woven in the matrix of soil and air, through roots and chemical paths that science is only now starting to explore. I wanted to represent this symphony and show it is not unconnected to the larger world.
