Volunteer your services and become part of the public face of the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Our volunteer program is managed through our members organisation, the Art Gallery Society of New South Wales. You can support the Gallery by becoming a member, and then applying to join our community ambassadors, task force or volunteer guides. Members of Contempo can also volunteer to help with fundraising to support the Gallery’s contemporary art collection and a calendar full of member events and activities. Task Force volunteers provide invaluable service to the Gallery and Society by staffing the ticketing desk at paying exhibitions, informing visitors of the benefits of becoming a Society member and serving food and beverages in the Members' Lounge cafe and at Gallery events. They also assist with mailouts and other administrative duties when required.
Our volunteers enjoy interacting with the public, have good communication skills and a willingness to help wherever needed.

Our Japanese-, Mandarin-, Cantonese- and Vietnamese-speaking volunteers offer regular tours of the Gallery in these languages and assist with special projects such as the ‘Light conversation on the Arts’ segments on SBS Radio’s Cantonese program. Volunteer Guides
Our guides provide wide-ranging expert tours of the permanent collection and major temporary exhibitions to visitors of all kinds – both adults and children – including school groups, Gallery members, corporate clients and VIPs. Special trained guides also assist with our access programs for people with disabilities. Contact us
