'The killer awoke before dawn, he put his boots on…’ – The end, The Doors.
Sigmund Freud’s notion of an Oedipus complex offers more than a model of human psychosexuality; it considers the rudiments of animalism – jealousy, lust, supremacy. Perhaps humankind is no less bound by these carnal desires than the animal kingdom, and all our veneers of civility have been laid to waste. It is in the hour of the sun’s absence that we find ourselves – before the day breaks is the home of unchained desires.
