Moiety is a form of social organisation in which people are divided into classes or categories. The word derives from a Latin term for 'half’. For many Australian Indigenous groups this concept has determined skin groups, family and even your marriage partner. My work references my great-grandmother’s segregation and the historical governance of Indigenous people – storytelling we should not forget.
