My work explores architecture through a form different to traditional building construction methods. The idea of working with papers, folding then joining them and keeping them simply white, was the direction of my art-making. I was drawn to the abstract shapes and forms of 19th and 20th century architecture. The Sydney Opera House, with its organic and unusual shapes, was a strong source of inspiration. An old Japanese legend speaks of anyone who folds a thousand papers cranes will be granted a wish. I was strongly influenced by this phenomenon. Hundreds of origami pieces: memories, feelings, emotions, dedication and patience… all captured in each single one of them.
