Contemporary art education kit is available online. It focuses on a selection of works from the contemporary collection and provides questions and activities for Years K–12, organised around themes.
Children’s trails are designed to engage young children with selected objects and images in the Gallery.
Kids audio tour includes works from our contemporary collection among others. Check the ‘more information’ links from each of the works to see if it is currently on display. Students and teachers can download files onto their own MP3 players or listen online.

Excursions focused on contemporary art for Years K–6 include an Art Adventure Tour called Learning to look.
You can design your own excursion for Years 7-12, focusing on the contemporary collection.
Art Adventure Tours for Years K-6 mentioned above are also available free with a registered Auslan interpreter for deaf students. Three weeks’ notice is required.
Students in Years K–12 with an intellectual disability can join our Starting with Art tour and workshop, including one titled Unpacking contemporary art.
From the Gallery Shop
A series of A4, loose-leaf education kits on various aspects of the Gallery’s collection can be bought from the Gallery Shop, including Encounters with contemporary art. These are highly useful resources, even when all the works featured are not on display.
