Sydney Theatre Company presents a Malthouse Melbourne and Victorian Opera production of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill’s The Threepenny Opera.

Spend a night with an all-singing, all-dancing, all-blaspheming band of crims, bent cops and feisty floozies, headed up by the ever-fabulous Paul Capsis and Eddie Perfect.

This new production of The Threepenny Opera captures the spirit of 1930s Berlin but superimposes it on to instantly recognisable local streets. At the savage heart of Michael Kantor and Richard Gill’s production is Kurt Weill’s raw, jazzy and intensely beautiful music, including the chilling classic, Mack the Knife.

Director Michael Kantor. Conductor Richard Gill. Text by Raimondo Cortese. Lyrics by Jeremy Sams.

Part of Berlin Sydney, in association with the exhibition The mad square: modernity in German art 1910-37 at the Art Gallery of NSW
