19th Century Australian gallery, ground level

The Art Gallery Society is thrilled to present the 10th Anniversary season of Resonate in 2009. In its 10 years Resonate has grown from four concerts a year to eight and established itself as a significant part of Sydney’s fine music scene.

Some of the finest names in Australian and overseas talent have appeared in Resonate including pianists Roger Woodward, Gerard Willems, Alexander Gavrylyuk, Simon Tedeschi and Leslie Howard; singers Yvonne Kenny, Elisabeth Connell, Peter Coleman-Wright, José Carbo and Emma Matthews; instrumentalists Slava Grigoryan and James Crabb; ensembles such as the Sydney Philharmonia Motet Choir, the Opera Australia Chorus, the Sirius Ensemble and the Sydney Omega Ensemble.

In a truly unique experience, audiences are able to view the extraordinary variety of exhibitions on display in the Art Gallery of NSW, with complimentary refreshments, before each of the concerts, giving a visual enhancement to the sublime musical offerings presented in the Gallery’s beautiful Old Courts. In our 10th Anniversary year it is also a privilege to welcome the generosity of Resonate’s new supporter the Trust Foundation.

To take full advantage of Resonate’s special ambience and be guaranteed the best seats in the house you can obtain reserved seating by subscribing to the entire series.

Come along and celebrate Resonate’s 10th Birthday.

PINCHGUT OPERA 08
L’Ormindo
Sunday 15 November

Sydney’s most innovative and exciting opera company, Pinchgut Opera joins Resonate for the first time in 2009. Pinchgut gives audiences a different experience of opera, performing fascinating lesser-known masterpieces. In this concert they will perform a selection of music from their forthcoming production of Francesco Cavalli’s L’Ormindo. This delightful comedy concerns a beautiful young queen, her elderly husband, two lovelorn princes and some cross-dressing aides!

The concert will be preceded by a champagne reception and private viewing of the Dobell Prize for Drawing. Doors open at 7pm. Seating commences at 7.45pm. Concert runs 8pm - 9.30pm approx.
