An afternoon with the Ballets Russes

Join us for a special lecture and film screening, celebrating the colour and movement of the Ballets Russes. The innovative Russian dance company debuted in Paris in 1909, profoundly affecting many artists of the early 20th century, including Rupert Bunny.

1-2pm – Lecture: The costumes of the Ballets Russes, Robert Bell, Curator of Decorative Arts at the National Gallery of Australia

2.15-4.15pm – Documentary screening: Ballets Russes (2005, dir Danya Goldfine and Dan Geller), featuring rare archival footage and interviews with some of the original Ballets Russes dancers
