Due to popular demand, art consultant, lecturer and author Robijn Alexanda takes you on another fascinating day tour to view some lesser known religious sites in Parramatta, Mulgoa and Liverpool. Departing from The Rocks, you will be taken first to the rebuilt St Patrick’s Cathedral in Parramatta, completed in 2003. The commissioned contemporary artworks are by well known Australian artists. From there you will go to St Thomas Church in Mulgoa, an historic building in a bush setting, built in local stone by the Cox family in 1838. Lunch is at the renowned Hopewood Health Centre at Wallacia, where you will have a delicious vegetarian smorgasbord meal (no tea, coffee or alcohol in this health retreat). After lunch you will visit the Mount Schoenstatt Shrine, a pilgrim site dedicated to the Blessed Mother Mary, opened in the 1950s. And finally, you will see St Luke’s Liverpool, designed by Francis Greenway in 1819, the oldest existing Anglican church in Australia. Afternoon tea served will be served here before heading back to the city arriving at approximately 5.30pm. Places are limited so book early. |
