The Society's World Tour The Essential Spain: Barcelona and Madrid tour (6-15 May 2010) is the subject of a lecture by tour leader Brian Ladd. Brian, who is Head of the Art Gallery's Public Programs department, and brings enthusiasm and a broad knowledge of the study of art, will introduce you to the highlights of these two great historical cities. The focus is on the outstanding artistic legacy, featuring iconic works by leading Spanish artists from the 17th to the 20th centuries - Velasquez, El Greco, Goya, Picasso, Miro and Dali. The significant holdings of Italian and northern European masterpieces in Spanish collections, in particular Titian and Bosch respectively, is also discussed. The Barcelona architect Antoni Gaudi is given special attention in the context of Spain's spectacularly varied and multi-cultural traditions of architecture.
