The Gallery’s annual student photo prize

This competition offers students an opportunity to develop their photographic skills and gain recognition for their efforts.

2014 competition

The competition will be held in the second half of the year. We’ll publish details here closer to the time.

2013 competition

In 2013 the competition was held in association with the exhibition Joy before the object.

Entries explored how photographic representation can change our perception of familiar objects.

Students could submit up to three photographs in one of the following categories:

  • Junior (Years 3–6)
  • Intermediate (Years 7–10)
  • Senior (Years 11–12)

Each winner receives a copy of the book Photography: Art Gallery of New South Wales collection, a gift voucher for the Gallery Shop and two tickets to our major exhibition Afghanistan: hidden treasures from the National Museum, Kabul. Highly commended also receives two tickets to the exhibition. The winning and highly commended entries will be published on the Gallery website.
