The Gallery offers intensive and inspiring Teacher Professional Development programs catering specifically for K-6 and 7-12 educators and trainee teachers. Relevant links to the Visual Arts syllabus is incorporated into each programme as well as lectures, discussions and workshops by educators, historians, artists and critics. These are detailed on our bi-annual Exhibition Poster. Teachers Enrichment DaysFocusing on key temporary exhibitions, issues and ideas these days are held throughout the year (approx. four per year). Providing teachers with an opportunity to engage with museum professionals, artists, performers and education specialists these programs aim to stimulate discussion and develop ideas and techniques for the K-6 classroom across the Key Learning Areas. Staff Development DaysAn opportunity for the whole staff to explore the possibilities of teaching and learning in the Visual Arts and other Key Learning Areas using the Gallery’s collections as a starting point. Includes creative strategies for looking at art and programming ideas for the K-6 classroom. These days are held on the first day (pupil-free day) of Terms Two and Three and incorporate a blend of specially designed programs, tours, lectures and practical workshops for up to three schools. Themes and focus areas can be negotiated, enabling aspects of the day to be tailor-made for each individual school. Practical workshops and tours can be conducted according to Stages to provide relevant and accessible ideas for classroom practice.
