Collection programsJoin our specially trained volunteer children's guides on a free art adventure tour to introduce K-6 students to the Gallery's collections. In small groups of ten or less, students will spend one hour exploring the exciting world of art through looking, interpreting, discussing, storytelling, role-play and practical activities. Tours are specially designed to meet the outcomes of the K-6 syllabus across all the Key Learning Areas.
The aim of these programs is for students to: - engage directly with a diverse range of original art objects across the Gallery's collection
- develop a greater understanding and enjoyment of art
- formulate and articulate their own ideas and critical points of view
- explore the diverse contexts art operates within and reacts to including, spaces, places, cultures, times, histories and narratives.
- investigate the professional practice of artists as valued members of society
- experiment with and manipulate art materials and processes in their own art making
- value the diverse range of ideas and points of view contributed by others in the experience and investigation of art
