Da Vinci Project: HOT art
For gifted and talented children (Years K-12)

HOT art discussion tours and workshops are designed to meet the needs of intellectually gifted and underachieving gifted children, offering stimulating and creative opportunities to develop Higher Order Thinking (HOT) skills in the Art Gallery of NSW. The tour provides the opportunity to engage in a stimulating environment.

Pre and post-visit activities linked to NSW syllabus are incorporated into this program. A resource pack will be provided at the time of booking.

Permanent collection workshops tours
Available year round

  • Klippel: Based upon the work of eminent Australian sculptor Robert Klippel,
    students study the work of the artist and create their own sculptures.
    Years K-6, 2.5hrs. $330 per 15 Students or less.
     
  • Margaret Preston: written by herself - This workshop engages students in an investigation of autobiography/biography of the artist and includes performance.
    Years 5-8, 1.5hrs. $187.50 per 15 students or less.
     
  • Goddess: a tableau narrative - The Goddess in the Asian collection is the focus in this writing/drama/performance workshop.
    Years 5-8, 1.5hrs. $187.50 per 15 students or less.
     
  • Figurative sculpture: art and science - A workshop tour with a focus on the human figure in the permanent collection including the work of eminent Australian sculptor Bertram Mackennal.
    Years 5-8, 1.5hrs. $187.50 per 15 students or less.

Special Temporary exhibition workshop tour
Available: 11 October 2008 - 26 January 2009

  • Monet and his world: An in-depth discussion tour of the exhibition Monet and the Impressionists with a focus on historical perspectives and the influences of Japanese art followed by a practical painting and drawing workshop.
    1.5 hours • $187.50 per 15 students or less, includes exhibition entry.
