Teachers Study Sessions

 

Teachers Study Sessions are designed for the professional and personal enrichment of Years 7-12 teachers. These half-day sessions offer an in-depth study of key exhibitions relevant to specific syllabus areas other than Visual Arts, with the aim of developing the Gallery as a key resource for ongoing classroom programming.

Programs may include presentations from curators, artists, gallery educators and syllabus experts, along with exhibition viewings, resources and refreshments.

Monet and the Impressionists: French Language Teachers Afternoon

3 - 5.30pm

The Art Gallery of New South Wales in conjunction with the Department of Education and Training hosted an in-service afternoon for French language teachers.

The afternoon included presentations in French and English by Terence Maloon, Monet and the Impressionists, exhibition Curator and Margie Ange Lewis, French Language Consultant, Department of Education and Training, plus viewing of the Monet and the Impressionists exhibition. Teachers received educational resource material including a hardcopy education kit for the Monet exhibition, a French language supplement and afternoon tea.

Program:

  • 3 - 3.30pm - Afternoon tea in the function space, ground level
    Registration and collection of resource material
     
  • 3.30 - 4.10pm - Exhibition: key artists, artworks and themes. Terence Maloon, Curator, Monet and the Impressionists, Centenary Auditorium,
     
  • 4.10 - 4.30pm - Education strategies for teaching French language - focus on the Monet education kit. Margie Ange Lewis, French Language Consultant, Department of Education and Training
     
  • 4.30 - 4.45pm - Incorporating the Visual Arts into French Language Programs - AGNSW excursion visits. Ghislaine Barbe, Association of Independent Schools of New South Wales
     
  • 4.45 - 5.30pm - Viewing of the exhibition Monet and the Impressionists
