ARTEXPRESS Teachers Day 2008

Celebrating 25 years of ARTEXPRESS at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the ARTEXPRESS Teachers Day offers presentations by students, teachers, artists and gallery professionals to stimulate ideas, classroom strategies and provide resources. This professional development day investigates ARTEXPRESS as a nexus between visual arts education and the professional practice of the artworld.

Cost: $77, AGS members $70, tertiary students $38.50 (includes morning tea/lunch and resources)

Robin Norling, former Head, Public Programs, AGNSW (1978-1988) in conversation with Tristan Sharp, discussing the initiation of ARTEXPRESS at the Gallery, its enduring success and influence on art education and gallery practice.
10.10am Inside ARTEXPRESS 2008
Co-curators Victoria Collings, Coordinator of K-6 School and Family Programs, and Leeanne Carr, Coordinator Secondary Schools and Asian Education Programs, AGNSW.

Gay Bucknall, Visual Arts Teacher, Killara High School, discusses approaches to classroom practice and programming for the BOW, through two students exhibited in ARTEXPRESS 2008.
2:30pm From ARTEXPRESS to Archibald.
On the day of the announcement of the Archibald Prize, a special floortalk with artist Ben Quilty, finalist 2004, 2005 and 2006, who also exhibited in ARTEXPRESS in 1991.
