Artside-in!

Stage 1: school visit

Gallery educators and a practising artist visit the selected school and present an intensive day-long program that "takes the Gallery to the students". This includes:

  • discussion about the nature and role of art in relation to the syllabus such as the Frames and Conceptual Framework
  • an introduction to the Gallery
  • a focus on the practice of the visiting artist
  • an interactive workshop session with Year 11 and 12 students developing ideas for their HSC body of work

"ARTside-In is a great program that nurtures those enthusiastic enough to pursue it, and the time and consideration of the parties involved has been an exceedingly positive influence on my school life which I will never forget."
Alison Ten Bohmer, Chester Hill High School

"I learnt so much and my brain is overloading and pouring with information. I now know lots about each aspect of the conceptual framework in detail. I think this was a great experience and important knowledge has been gained which will help me succeed in my HSC."
Andrew Wilson, Keira High School

"What I gained from the ARTside-In experience was invaluable, in terms of preparing me for my Visuals Arts studies in the senior years and boosting my interest and perception of the art world in general. The program opened a lot of doors for me into the art world and allowed me to gain insights into art in a way which would have never been possible without the program. I believe that the program gave me a certain edge over my peers in terms of art appreciation and resources."
Anna Liang, Tempe High School
