How to get involved
Who is eligible? In order to participate in the metropolitan and regional Artside-in programs your school must be supported by the NSW Department of Education and Training Priority Schools Program (PSP). Metropolitan We currently work with four PSP schools within the Sydney metropolitan region each year. At present these schools participate in the program on an invitation only basis. Regional We are also able to accommodate one regional PSP school for a three day program in August or September each year. How much does it cost? Metropolitan Due to the generous support of the Caledonia Foundation for PSP schools from the Sydney metropolitan region four schools are invited to participate in the program at no cost each year. Regional If you are a regional PSP school interested in Artside-In there is a cost. We encourage you to talk with your principal about utilising PSP funding. For more information on the cost contact Nick Hobbs, Coordinator Outreach Programs Tel: (02) 92251770, Fax: (02) 92251842, email: nickh@ag.nsw.gov.au What outcomes will be met by the program? - Working with the Art Gallery of NSW to foster a greater understanding of the artworld through access to restricted areas and sustained contact with a range of gallery and Artworld professionals.
- Greater understanding and exposure for students to careers in art and related fields.
- A deeper connection to the visual arts syllabus, and improved student engagement, through opportunities for hands-on, authentic learning experiences that bring to life the “conceptual framework”.
- Teacher support in the provision of quality teaching outcomes by teaming up with experienced gallery educators; combining knowledge of individual students learning needs with collection based knowledge and teaching expertise.
