About
Charles Gouyn’s factory appears to have produced scent bottles in two distinct grades, the grander examples having gold mounts. This is one of the factory’s more modest productions presumably designed to attract a wider market. There are examples of this shape bearing an inscription in French – Je soutiens le monde – implying that Cupid, the god of love, holds the whole world in his hands.
