The "wet" season

According to documentation, depicted here is the water snake which is symbolic of lightning which brings the rain (the great wet). The goose is full of joy at the prospect of lots of water, and celebrates by blowing the didjerido. The sounds are so beautiful each turns into a well, becoming sacred wells. The goose mates and lays the eggs below.

Gungiyangi Marrakwara has varied the colour of the eggs according to the food taken by the goose. The conventional design on the above right represents the green reeds, and below, burnt areas that are about to be flooded and rejuvinated.
