  • About

Don Ellis Tjapanangka was among the more senior artists who contributed to the Honey Ant mural on the wall of the Papunya School and subsequently developed a painting practice at Papunya. Tjapanangka was not a prolific artist, and this is among his most resolved works. With simple elements repeated across the composition, and the restrained palette of ochre, black and white, the work is a classic example of early Papunya Tula painting.
