  • About

Palmer spent many years preparing an English translation of the ‘Eclogues of Virgil’ along with ten original etchings to illustrate the book, but he died before the project was completed.

The volume was finished by the artist’s son and published in 1883. It contains only one etching completed by Palmer 'Opening the fold'. Four others were begun by Palmer but finished by his son. The nine remaining illustrations are facsimiles of Palmer’s drawings.
